Ms Catherine Inglis

I joined EPCC in October 1996 as the Visit Co-ordinator for the EC-funded TRACS programme, which allowed researchers in other European countries to carry out short visits to EPCC to use our High Performance Computing facilities while working in collaboration with a local researcher in a similar field.
TRACS was superseded by HPC-Europa, a similar programme run jointly by a consortium of European HPC centres, offering research visits to 7 different countries. As well as being the local visit co-ordinator here in Edinburgh, I was the overall co-ordinator of the Transnational Access part of the programme at consortium level. Our FP7 funding has now ended, and I am currently involved in trying to secure further EC funding to restart the programme.
During my time at EPCC, I have also been involved with other European-funded projects, including CRESTA, EUDAT and PRACE (PRACE Advanced Training Centre and Summer of HPC).
I have a degree in languages and a Postgraduate Diploma in European Marketing and Languages, and before coming to EPCC I spent two years teaching English in Spain, and then worked on the Spanish technical support helpline at the European helpcentre at IBM Greenock.
