The EPCC training room contains 26 SunRay terminals arranged around the room. These require a registered Smartcard to log in. There is an additional SunRay terminal on the trainer’s desk, which can be used with or without a Smartcard. The SunRays are connected to the SunRay server “training” which is a dual-core UltraSPARC-III server running Solaris.
There is a ceiling-mounted data projector connected to a Windows tablet laptop. This has a flat screen 17 inch monitor located on the trainer’s desk. The data projector has an additional input from the trainer’s SunRay, and it is possible to switch the display between the SunRay and the PC via the remote mouse. There is also an input for connecting a laptop to the data projector, although EPCC does not allow direct network connection of personal laptops to any part of the EPCC network without approval of the EPCC Systems Group.
The room has an integrated sound system with ceiling-mounted speakers and a clip-on radio mic.
