Observing, modelling and predicting climate change,
Professor Simon Tett, University of Edinburgh.

In this lecture I will outline some of the issues involved in observing climate change. I will then describe how climate models are constructed and, briefly, discuss the high performance computers on which they have been ran. Using models and observations the scientific community has shown, it is likely, that human emissions of carbon dioxide are responsible for the observed warming of about 0.8K since the early 20th century. I will outline the evidence for this result. Finally I will discuss predictions of future change.
