Introducing the Adept Measurement System (video)

16 June 2015

The Adept project has published a video that gives an introduction to instrumenting a computer for power measurement with the Adept measurement system. Please watch it to learn more.

About Adept

The Adept project addresses the challenge of energy-efficient use of parallel technologies. Adept builds on the expertise of software developers from high-performance computing (HPC) to exploit parallelism for performance, and on the expertise of Embedded systems engineers in managing energy usage.

Adept is developing a tool that can guide software developers and help them to model and predict the power consumption and performance of parallel software and hardware. To complement this tool, Adept is also developing a suite of benchmarks, from single instructions up to small applications, specifically focused on evaluating power and energy consumption, as well as a fine-grained power measurement infrastructure. Adept will investigate the implications of parallelism in programming models and algorithms, and choice of hardware, on energy and power consumption.
