HPCx: UK National Supercomputing Service 2002 - 2010

The HPCx service closed on 31st January 2010. The service was funded by the UK Research Councils and ran for seven years from December 2002 through to the end of January 2010.

The HPCx Consortium was led by the University of Edinburgh, with the Science & Technology Facilities Council and IBM. EPCC has a long experience of national HPC services and provided the University of Edinburgh contribution. We provided the T3D/T3E service from 1994 to 2001, and before that, services on a Thinking Machines CM200, and Meiko Computing Surfaces. EPCC continues to be a major centre for HPC support and training.

For further details visit the HPCx project website. The HPCx service was superseded by the HECToR national supercomputing service.
