MS.NET Grid: Grid services delivered using Microsoft .NET technology
With the advent of the Open Grid Services Architecture (OGSA) and its underlying infrastructure the Open Grid Services Infrastructure (OGSI) there was an increasing interest within Grid communities worldwide in Microsoft .NET Web Services technologies and their applicability to Grid services.
MS.NET Grid was a collaboration between Microsoft Research Limited (MS) and the National e-Science Centre (represented by EPCC). The aim of MS.NET Grid was to demonstrate the applicability of Microsoft .NET technologies such as hosting, development and deployment of Grid services to the UK e-Science community. A complementary goal was facilitating understanding of the Grid and e-Science within Microsoft. The project released Open Grid Services Infrastructure compliant software, an example of an OGSA-DAI data service written in .NET and delivered training courses in Edinburgh and London.
