If your application for an HPC-Europa2 visit to EPCC is approved by the Selection Panel, you will receive notification by email. We will also send you an official letter and acceptance pack by post.

You should agree suitable dates for your visit with your scientific host and with the HPC-Europa2 team at EPCC, and then start planning your travel. The HPC-Europa2 team can help you with any questions you may have about travelling to Edinburgh. Please do not book your tickets until you have confirmed with the HPC-Europa2 team that the price is acceptable.

You do not necessarily have to arrive in Edinburgh within our office hours. If you arrive outside office hours, we will book you a room in a guest house near the campus for your first night, and this will be charged directly to HPC-Europa2.

Once we know when you will be arriving and whether you will be coming directly to the campus or spending the first night in a guest house, we will send you further arrival information.

You may find the Edinburgh International Airport webpage useful when planning your journey.

Medical insurance

Please make sure you arrange adequate health insurance for your visit before travelling to the UK. For further information, see here.

Access to computing facilities

We will contact you shortly before your visit to ask you to register for general University of Edinburgh services and for the HPC service “ness”

When you arrive in Edinburgh, your EPCC technical contact will discuss with you your code and what exactly you intend to do during your visit. Your contact may then be able to recommend that you apply for access to other HPC facilities at EPCC.

If you have any questions, please contact the HPC-Europa2 team at EPCC at europa@epcc.ed.ac.uk
