Dr Gordon Gibb
I joined the EPCC as an Applications Developer in January 2016. I predominantly work on the Outreach and CSE projects.
Prior to coming to the EPCC I was at the University of St Andrews where I studied an MPhys in Astrophysics, before going on to obtain a PhD in Solar Physics. I then spent a little time as a postdoc there, where I developed codes for the Met Office’s Space Weather forecasting service, and a software suite for characterising topological features of divergence-free vector fields.
Here at the EPCC, in the Outreach project I am developing demonstration codes to be run on Wee Archie, a small cluster built from Raspberry Pi computers for public outreach. These will be used to educate children about supercomputing concepts. On the CSE project I provide technical support to users of ARCHER.
Outwith work I enjoy swimming, running and hillwalking.
