Mr Ally Hume
I am a software architect and data scientist who joined EPCC in 2003. I provide the technical lead for software development or data analysis projects for both academic and commercial clients. I'm currently seconded to SynthSys, the University's Synthetic and Systems biology centre, for three days a week. During this secondment I will work to bridge the gap between these communities and the advanced computing communities.
Previously I was Technical Architect of the EU FP7 BonFIRE project that provided a multi-site cloud infrastructure, designed to support a wide variety of cloud-based service application experiments. My other projects at EPCC have mainly focused on distributed data access, integration and data mining and, more recently, have had a life sciences focus.
Prior to joining EPCC, I worked in on several research and industrial applications including control and monitoring systems for ocean-based seismic surveys and a computer-vision system for cancer detection.
I have a BSc (Hons) degree in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence from The University of Edinburgh.
