Mr Malcolm Illingworth
I originally graduated from Edinburgh University back in 1989, with a BSc in Electronics and Physics followed by an MSc in Remote Sensing and Image Processing Technology. After graduating I worked as a software developer/analyst in a variety of industrial and research companies, with a particular focus on healthcare and medical imaging. I also spent several years working as a professional Oracle database developer.
I joined EPCC in 2005. While at EPCC I have been involved with a number of large EU infrastructure projects, such as DEISA, BonFIRE and EUDAT. I have also designed and implemented database/website solutions for external customers and other departments within the university. I am currently working as a Research Software Group consultant for the Software Sustainability Institute.
Outside of work I enjoy playing the guitar and have been attending classes at the Scots Music Group for a number of years.
I am a keen scuba diver, and have now clocked up nearly 400 dives. I have yet to brave cold Scottish waters; my favourite location for diving is the warm clear water around northern Sulawesi in Indonesia where I have been several times.
