I joined EPCC as an Applications Developer in March 2018, initially working on INTERTWinE. Prior to that, I spent 8 years at Heriot-Watt doing an MPhys, then a PhD in Physics. My PhD research involved using matrix product operators to find the stationary state of a dissipative many-body quantum system. This boiled down to solving as large an eigenvalue problem as we could fit on our computer! As well as conducting research, I also acted as sysadmin on my research group's workstations, and was involved in teaching and outreach.
Outside of work I enjoy rock climbing, and long distance cycling. These two activities help to offset all the weekends I spend playing computer games, and watching telly in my pyjamas.
