EPCC loves active travel!

Proof that whilst EPCC may be one of the nerdiest enclaves in the University, we sure aren't all couch potatoes.

When local cycle campaign group Spokes released their latest edition of the Edinburgh Pedestrian and Cycling Route map, several of us agreed it would be an excellent idea to have a copy on the coffee room wall, to help plan trips around town and encourage new cyclists, or help current cyclists explore new areas.

We then found that if we combined all our orders for the new Edinburgh map, and any of the existing East Lothian, Midlothian, West Lothian or Glasgow maps available, we would actually all get a significant discount.

As the resident 'Spokes insider' (I maintain the Spokes membership databases) I was elected 'Order organiser' and quickly had 28 map requests. No sooner had we placed the order than the maps were delivered, the poster-version was up in the coffee room, and Donald was the happy recipient of the first order hand-outs (see pic).

Many thanks to everyone who ordered - we all saved around 30% on the cover price, as well as helping support Spokes in its campaigning for safer walking and cycling facilities.

If you missed out this time, you can still order (but at full price) via the Spokes website: http://www.spokes.org.uk/spokes-maps/

And if you think you can rustle up a bulk order (around 12+ maps), then please do get in touch with maps@spokes.org.uk for further info.
