HPC outreach and community engagement

EPCC runs a programme of public engagement activities that complements the ARCHER service, the UK’s primary research computer, which is hosted by EPCC.

The programme is supported by dedicated funding from the UK’s Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), and is designed to encourage young people to gain an understanding of High Performance Computing, Computational Science and Programming.

A highlight of the programme is Wee Archie, a suitcase-sized supercomputer designed and built to explain what a supercomputer is.
