Java Grande benchmark suite

A set of benchmarks to provide performance comparisons between different Java execution environments.The benchmarks are designed to be representative of scientific and other numerically intensive computation. There are three levels: basic operations, kernels and applications.

The benchmarks also investigate different parallel programming models:

  • Sequential benchmarks: suitable for single processor execution.
  • Multi-threaded benchmarks: suitable for parallel execution on shared memory multiprocessors
  • MPJ benchmarks: suitable for parallel execution on distributed memory multiprocessors.

A subset of the sequential benchmarks are also translated into C to provide a language comparison.
