There are separate scales of fees for students whose status is “home” (i.e. within the UK) and those whose status is “overseas”. For details, see the University’s fees status page.

Budgeting for your living costs before you arrive is important. The University’s finance website provides useful information to help you create a realistic budget. There is also a budget calculator you can use to plan your budget.

The University’s Accommodation Services offer a wide range of housing and catering options for UK and international students. They also provide guidance on finding private accommodation as well as advice on leases and your rights. 

You should apply for the MSc programmes before applying for any scholarships.

Generally, scholarships require applicants to submit a separate application form. Some of them also have deadlines as early as January, with the majority of deadlines falling between January and May. 

You are encouraged to apply as early as possible and check individual websites for details.

Both of our MScs are included in the University’s tuition fee discount schemes.

The University offers a 10% discount on postgraduate tuition fees for all alumni who have graduated with an undergraduate degree from the University of Edinburgh (conditions apply) or for students who have previously matriculated on a "Visiting Programme" as a non-graduating undergraduate student and completed a minimum of one semester of study at the University of Edinburgh (conditions apply).
