I graduated in 2005 from St Catharine's College, Cambridge with an MSci in Natural Sciences and then moved to the School of Physics here in Edinburgh where I completed a PhD in soft matter physics. After my PhD, I worked as a postdoc in UCL's Department of Chemistry on simulation of blood flow in the human body using lattice-Boltzmann methods and high performance computing.

I came to EPCC in January 2014 and have continued doing research on computational fluid dynamics, particularly using the lattice Boltzmann method, but also finite volume and (higher order) finite element methods. I am also interested in understanding how to write and deploy HPC applications in an efficient, modern way while still getting the most out of the hardware in a portable way.
As well as my research activities, I am part of the ARCHER CSE team, liaising with the UK Consortium on Mesoscale Engineering Sciences to support their use of the ARCHER supercomputer. I am course organiser for the Parallel Programming Languages course on EPCC’s MSc programme, teaching sections on GPU programming and C++.
