ARCHER2 Celebration of Science 2026: programme now available!

20 February 2026

Taking place from 19-20 March 2026 in Edinburgh, this annual event will bring the ARCHER2 user community together again to celebrate their impactful scientific achievements on the UK National Supercomputing Service.

The full programme of this year’s ARCHER2 Celebration of Science is now available: see the ARCHER2 website for the draft agenda. The two-day event will include:

  • Invited talks: Invited speakers from academia and industry will deliver a range of talks, highlighting their impactful research using ARCHER2.
  • Poster sessions: Poster authors will each present a 3-minute lightning talk introducing their poster. All event attendees are invited to join the poster session and drink reception on the evening of Day 1 for further discussion and idea sharing. The Best Poster Prize will be announced on Day 2 of the event.
  • Keynote: The keynote will be given by Professor Mark Parsons, Director of EPCC.
  • Panel Session: This session will focus on key topics for the ARCHER2 and UK research community.
  • ARCHER2 User Forum: A hybrid session for event attendees and the wider ARCHER2 users to learn about the latest service updates and engage directly with the ARCHER2 team.
  • Interactive Session: An interactive session where event attendees will actively engage in discussions on equality, diversity and inclusion challenges related to the delivery of HPC services.
  • NetworkPlus Session: a dedicated session focusing on the UKRI funded NetworkPlus projects and how the ARCHER2 user community can benefit from and contribute to them.

Day 0 workshop: Championing Green Digital Research

This Day 0 workshop will be held alongside the ARCHER2 Celebration of Science 2026, taking place on 18 March. It is organised by EPCC and supported by ARCHER2 National Service and the UKRI Research Infrastructure NetworkPlus programmes through CHARTED, DisCouRSE and NetDRIVE.

For those seeking to understand and reduce the emissions associated with their research activities and to have a positive impact on the path to net zero emissions from research, this workshop aims to provide insight into and expand on recent efforts to understand what skills are needed to empower researchers and other digital research technical professionals to make and advocate for positive impact in using DRI for research.

The workshop will consist of three sessions:

  • Green Skills: Based on previous work from the three NetworkPlus projects (CHARTED, DisCouRSE and NetDRIVE), this session will summarise previous fundings, continue the discussions on existing training resources for “Green Skills”, identify gaps and develop recommendations for new training courses.
  • Advocating for Change: An exploration of how best to focus awareness and advocacy to create real change. Different approaches, techniques and success stories will be shared.
  • Changing Community Mindset: This interactive session will look at how we can effectively advocate for change in the way digital infrastructure is managed, run and used, to move towards a net zero DRI.
