EPCC services during the COVID-19 pandemic

25 March 2020

In common with most UK organisations, EPCC staff are working from home now. We are endeavouring to continue to engage with all of our projects and partners as close as possible to normal in this exceptional situation.

At EPCC’s Advanced Computing Facility (ACF) data centre we host and manage a number of National Services, including ARCHER, the DiRAC “Tesseract” system, the Tier 2 Cirrus system, and the National Safe Haven. We know how important keeping these services running is to the research community.

To adhere to government restrictions during the pandemic, we have adopted a slightly reduced, condensed working pattern. However, the ACF will be open and functioning as normal.

We have a number of well-rehearsed business continuity and disaster recovery contingencies in place. Our staff work from home where required, and we have created a rota of on-site resources that will ensure the maintenance and upkeep of the site and our systems to the best of our abilities. The service helpdesks operated by EPCC will function as normal.

Difficulties will arise with regard to delivery and installation of new systems and we will let users know about these issues as we get information from suppliers and contractors.

We send our best wishes to all of our users and stakeholders in this difficult time.
