MSc industry projects: business briefing event (3 Oct 2019, Edinburgh)

Students of EPCC's MSc programmes in HPC, and HPC with Data Science each undertake a supervised research project, either within industry or academia. Our students can introduce new ideas and add significant value to an organisation and, with host companies including the UK Met Office and Edinburgh-based Mallzee, no business is too big or too small to participate.

Our MSc projects are an ideal way for your company to explore the competitive benefits of high performance computing and data science. Each student will have access to the expertise of an EPCC supervisor and will also have the option of using our unrivalled computing facilities, so bringing our world-class computing skills straight into your organisation.

Optos has hosted three students from the MSc industry projects programme, chosen from a selection of strong candidates. The students’ skill sets meant that it was very easy for them to start working right away on projects that we had previously devised together. They worked well under supervision but also came up with new ideas that helped shape their projects. Their solutions have been very valuable to the business and hopefully will be a stepping stone for future collaborations with EPCC, starting with next year’s MSc programme. The programme’s organisation was fantastic and the academic collaborators were always helpful and prompt in their feedback to us and the students, which greatly helped in the final success of the projects.
