Domain Specific Languages mini-symposium at PASC
29 June 2022
As part of the xDSL ExCALIBUR project we are chairing a mini-symposium at PASC about Domain Specific Languages (DSLs) on Wednesday 29th of June between 2pm and 4pm CEST.
With the community having recently entered the exascale era the major challenge around how to actually program these highly complex supercomputers at scale remains, and DSLs are an important potential tool to help abstract the low level complexities by giving scientific programmers the abstractions required to enable them to concentrate on their application logic whilst providing a rich source of information upon which the compiler can then act.
However there are many challenges in developing DSLs and getting the community to accept this new way of working. Thus a mini-symposium at PASC where we will be joined by speakers from the Met Office, Google, and University of Washington to explore the opportunities, challenges, and future directions for this technology.
