My interests are based around computational fluid dynamics and I have recently been closely involved with co-workers in the School of Physics in the development and implementation of novel lattice Boltzmann techniques for complex mixtures of fluids and particles.

About Me
Before joining EPCC I worked in the Department of Meteorology (’upstairs’) for two and a half years, so also retain an interest in geophysical ocean/atmosphere modelling.
In my spare time, I play (after a fashion) football and cricket, and can often be found in the further-flung corners of Scotland on a bike. I hold the dubious honour of being the captain of the record-breaking(ly bad) EPCC squash team.
Research Profile
With a background in computational physics, I have a wide range of interests covering a range of scales from atomistic simulation and discrete element methods, mesoscale fluid mechanics methods, and geophysical fluid dynamics. In all these application areas, I am interested in both algorithmic improvements, and robust implementation in performance portable software which can run on both small and large parallel machines.
PhD students and opportunities
I have been involved in supervising, assessing and supporting various PhD students at EPCC.
I currently have no PhD students, but am open to supervision possibilities in line with my above research profile, as well as this project:
