Nick manages and develops systems as part of EIDF, primarily the Virtual Desktop and Cerebras services. Nick chairs EPCC's computing committee and both convenes, and is a member of several, College and University Committees.
Nick completed a PhD at the University of Edinburgh in statistical inference for network tomography and then worked for Agilent Labs researching near real-time network statistical analysis methods. He joined EPCC in 2011 and worked on HPC systems and research projects relating to energy-efficient computing before joining the EIDF team in 2021.
In his spare time, Nick volunteers at various preserved railways in Scotland, mostly breaking (and fixing) signalling and telegraph equipment.
