EIDF underpins the £600m Data-Driven Innovation initiative of the Edinburgh & South-East Scotland City Region Deal. A high-powered analytics and storage service, it supports research and data-driven innovation across all areas of the Initiative.

EIDF provides long-term hosting and curation of major regional, national and international data-sets for a wide range of stakeholders, including academics and industry, and offers both cloud-like and high-performance computing environments for the researchers and innovators who work with the data it holds. It also provides Safe Haven services to health and government users.

Built and managed by EPCC, EIDF is hosted in a new purpose-built, high-resilience computer room at our Advanced Computing Facility.
