Scholarships available for EPCC MSc in HPC programmes 2026/2027
23 January 2026
Applications for our John Fisher Scholarships, worth up to £16000 each, must be made by March 2, 2026.
High Performance Computing (HPC) is the use of powerful processors, networks and parallel supercomputers to tackle problems that are very computationally or data intensive. The same HPC techniques can be used to program the world's largest supercomputers containing many thousands of CPUs or GPUs, or to exploit the full potential of a multi-core laptop. Our MSc programmes will appeal if you have a keen interest in programming and would like to learn about HPC and parallel programming.
September 2026 will mark 25 years of EPCC's on-campus MSc programmes in High Performance Computing (HPC) and HPC with Data Science. Although the contents of our programmes have changed dramatically since they were launched, the core aim remains the same: to provide you with a thorough grounding in HPC technologies and their practical application. The Data Science theme also covers the key ideas and techniques used to extract knowledge from data and the HPC tools that underpin them.
EPCC John Fisher Scholarships
We are offering up to two scholarships for the sum of up to £16000 each, named in honour of John Fisher who was head of EPCC user support until 2007. These awards are open to all full-time students, are tenable for one academic year from September 2026, and automatically deducted from your tuition fee.
The initial closing date is March 2, 2026. Note that you must already have applied for admission to the University of Edinburgh. As this can take some time to process, please start your MSc application as soon as possible.
