DiRAC Day 2024

12 December 2024

The day provides a chance for members of the DiRAC community to present research results and learn about the scientific highlights of the various consortia across the DiRAC facility. DiRAC users will have the opportunity to meet the technical support teams for DiRAC resources in person and interact with leading industry vendors.

This year's DiRAC Day will take place in Cardiff.

DiRAC provides high performance computing (HPC) services to the UK’s scientific research communities in theoretical cosmology, nuclear physics, astrophysics, particle physics, and solar and planetary science. The main event consists of talks about DiRAC services and the research being carried out on those services with a number of contributions from researchers around the UK.

The day before the main event there will be a meeting of the technical working group and the RSE (Research Software Engineer) groups which will discuss current DiRAC issues and the future of DiRAC services.

EPCC contributes to DiRAC in a number of ways by

  • Operating Tursa, DiRAC's the Extreme Scaling GPU-based system
  • Managing the resources for the whole DiRAC community
  • Providing technical input to the resource allocation process.

Representatives of the EPCC Systems Team, who run Tursa, and the service's Resource Allocation Manager will contribute to sessions throughout the day.
