Scottish Enterprise

EPCC worked  in conjunction with the University of Edinburgh’s Business School to develop a bespoke training programme for Scottish Enterprise focusing on Data Science. 

We customised specific modules from our taught MSc programmes and our online courses to deliver a novel, interactive and challenging training programme over a period of five days. 

The training course provided an overview of Data Science and the analytical techniques that form its basis, as well as exploring how the effective use of data can unlock value and drive business growth.

The course covered: 

• key data analytical techniques
• relevant software and data architecture infrastructures
• data management planning
• data ethics
• case studies from academia and business

It was delivered by senior EPCC staff in a face-to-face training environment using a seminar style format that involved a guided, tutor-led discussion in a small group. This provided the opportunity for attendees to engage in discussion of particular topics and explore them in more depth.

The courses comprised a mixture of teaching and practical exercises in a classroom environment. After the course, attendees were signposted to further learning areas, relevant online courses, reading material and specific events that would be useful for continued learning and development in Data Science.
