Our team

I joined EPCC in September 2006 after I graduated with an MSc in High Performance Computing from the University of Edinburgh. I have worked on a variety of projects and my main interests include parallel programming, applications enabling and performance optimisation, etc.

I recently joined EPCC in 2021 as an Applications Consultant. Originally from Australia, I have a background in Exploration Geophysics. I moved to Edinburgh to study my PhD in Seismic History Matching which has fueled my interest in Python, meta-heuristic optimsation and data assimilation.

I am an applications consultant at the Edinburgh International Data Facility (EIDF). My interests are in the collation, analysis, and visualisation of complex data sets whether they are radio images of early stage stars or gene expression profiles of yeast cells. I completed my Mphys Physics at the University of Manchester in 2017 and finished my PhD in Bioinformatics at the University of Edinburgh in 2023 before joining EPCC.

Outside of work I love baking bread with my sourdough starter (named Bob) and making fresh pasta with my rose gold pasta maker (named Peitro). When I’m not stuffing my face with carbs, I may be found running/cycling to make room for more carbs.

David graduated with a degree in Physics from Imperial College London in 1987, and gained his PhD in Computational Theoretical Physics from Glasgow University in 1990. He spent the next four and a half years doing research in Lattice Field Theory at Edinburgh University before joining EPCC in 1995.

I joined EPCC in December 2015 after completing a PhD in Computer Science at the University of Almeria (Spain).

I am a principal software and data architect who joined EPCC in 2003. I provide the technical lead for software development or data analysis projects for both academic and commercial clients.

I joined EPCC in November 2023 as an Applications Developer after completing my MSc in HPC with Data Science at the University of Edinburgh. I was also a part of the winning ISC Student Cluster Competition team, TeamEPCC 2023. To continue my interests in HPC developed through the MSc and the competition, I joined EPCC, where I'm involved in various industry and research work. In my spare time, I enjoy cooking and playing MOBA games.

My research spans high performance computing, data and storage, memory technologies, and application optimisation, helping to ensure large scale computing is efficiently and effectively used. Current and past application domains include computational fluid dynamics, plasma physics, nuclear fusion, molecular dynamics, and discrete element modelling. I'm currently the Director of Research for EPCC, and the Co-Director of the MSc in Vision with HPC.

I joined EPCC in 2001. My current role is Principal Architect. I am involved in research software development, data engineering and teaching on our MSc in High Performance Computing.

I joined EPCC as an Applications Consultant in November 2020. I graduated from St. Andrews with a BSc (Hons) in Computational Science, followed by an MSc in Strategic Information Systems from the University of Strathclyde.

I work in the applications group here at EPCC, mainly on ARCHER and PRACE. I started working here at EPCC in November 2001 having followed the well-trodden path from particle-physics (theory) to EPCC.

Nick's primary research interests are in the energy efficiency and modelling of novel and heterogeneous computer architectures via the Adept project and advanced networking technologies such as SDN.

I joined EPCC in June 1998 as an Applications Consultant, and I now work as a Group Manager.

I completed my BSc in Statistics and Actuarial Science in Greece back in 2010. Then I moved to Lancaster where I did my MSc and PhD in Statistics focusing on computational and Bayesian statistics.

In 2015 I joined EPCC as a Data Science Application developer. During my time here I have been working on industrial data science projects and have also been involved in teaching on the MSc course.
